Fact: The lake I work out at has a path that is 2/3 mile per lap.
Me =
Fact: I can walk a lap in 10 minutes.
Fact: I can run a lap in 8 minutes.
Truth: Holy fucking cow shit, I run slow!
Wait a minute. I run slow. Is that truth?
My friend, K =
Fact: She can run around the lake in 12 minutes.
Truth: Holy fucking cow shit, Cristy runs fast!
Wait. Two truths. Stating different things? How is this possible?
My parents =
Fact: They are extreme right wing politically.
Truth: You should always vote Republican.
My inlaws =
Fact: They are extreme left wing politically.
Truth: You should always vote Democrat.
Is anybody unclear as to what I am saying?
Truth is subjective, folks! My truth is different than K’s truth. My parents’ truth is different than my inlaws’ truth. Chances are that on some topics we will share truths. On other topics our truths will conflict. This does not mean that I am right and you are wrong. This means that we believe different things, and that’s OK! Can you imagine how boring life would be if everyone believed the exact same thing?
Unbearable. And that’s the TRUTH!!!
