I went to bed last night at a normalish time. Bandit, as always climbed in to snuggle up. After awhile she crawled out from under the covers and went to the foot of the bed. And she began grooming. Lick, lick, lick. Scratch, scratch, scratch. Lick, lick, lick. Lather, rinse, repeat. It was driving me insane! So I picked her up, put her downstairs, and shut the door so that she couldn’t get back into my room. Then I did a quick look around for Smokey so that he didn’t get locked upstairs without access to the litter box. He normally sleeps with Ellie so when I didn’t see him by searching briefly I went back to bed.
Do you ever get the feeling someone is watching you? Well, about three this morning I felt like someone was watching me in my sleep. I was lying on my back and when I opened my eyes, Smokey was sitting on my chest staring at me! After I recovered from my momentary shock I scooped him up and put him downstairs with the rest of the animals.
As irritated as I was at three in the morning, I’ve got to admit that if you’re going to be awoken from a deep slumber by something staring you in the face, it may as well be a grown up version of this:
